中央外事工作会议6月22日至23日在北京召开。中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平在会上发表重要讲话强调，我国对外工作要坚持以新时代中国特色社会主义外交思想为指导，统筹国内国际两个大局，牢牢把握服务民族复兴、促进人类进步这条主线，推动构建人类命运共同体，坚定维护国家主权、安全、发展利益，积极参与引领全球治理体系改革，打造更加完善的全球伙伴关系网络，努力开创中国特色大国外交新局面，为全面建成小康社会、进而全面建设社会主义现代化强国创造有利条件、作出应有贡献。

The Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs was held in Beijing on 22-23 June. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered an important address to the conference. He stressed the following key points:

We should follow the guidance of the thought on diplomacy of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era in conducting China’s external work. We should keep in mind both our domestic and international imperatives, focus on the overriding goal of national rejuvenation and human progress, and endeavor to build a community with a shared future for mankind. We should be firm in safeguarding China’s sovereignty, security and development interests, and actively participate in and steer the reform of the global governance system. We should form a well-developed global network of partnerships. With these efforts, we aim to open up new prospects for conducting major-country diplomacy with distinctive Chinese features and create enabling conditions for building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and a great modernized socialist country.

习近平在讲话中指出，党的十八大以来，在党中央坚强领导下，面对国际形势风云变幻，我国对外工作攻坚克难、砥砺前行、波澜壮阔，开创性推进中国特色大国外交，经历了许多风险考验，打赢了不少大仗硬仗，办成了不少大事难事，取得了历史性成就。在实践中，我们积累了有益经验和深刻体会，对外工作要坚持统筹国内国际两个大局，坚持战略自信和保持战略定力，坚持推进外交理论和实践创新，坚持战略谋划和全球布局，坚持捍卫国家核心和重大利益，坚持合作共赢和义利相兼，坚持底线思维和风险意识。

In his address, Xi Jinping pointed out that since the 18th CPC National Congress, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, we have overcome many difficulties and forged ahead in the ever-changing world in conducting China’s external work, and we have made remarkable advances in pursuing major-country diplomacy with distinctive Chinese features in a creative way. We have withstood the test of numerous risks, won many major and tough battles, accomplished no small number of key and difficult tasks and scored historic achievements. By drawing on our experiences, we have developed a deep understanding that we must keep in mind both our domestic and international imperatives in conducting China’s external work, maintain strategic confidence and composure, and creatively pursue China’s diplomacy in both theory and practice. We should think in strategic terms and be global in our perspective, protect China’s core and major national interests, pursue win-win cooperation and uphold justice, and remain alert to risks and potential dangers.
