The Sixth Belt and Road China-Malaysia Business Dialogue Successfully Held in Yinchuan

From March 31 to April 2, the Sixth Belt and Road China-Malaysia Business Dialoguewas successfully held in Yinchuan, Ningxia. As an important regular event between China and Malaysia under the Belt and Road cooperation framework, this dialogue was held for the first time in a western region of China, marking a significant step in deepening China-Malaysia practical cooperation and serving China’s overall diplomatic agenda.

Li Yifei, Secretary of the CPC Ningxia Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ningxia People’s Congress, and Zhang Yupu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Ningxia Committee and Governor of Ningxia, met with the Malaysian political and business delegation led by Chang Lih Kang, Vice President of the Peoples Justice Party (PKR) and Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia. Ma Hui, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Zhuang Yan, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Ningxia Committee, and Wang Li, Vice Governor of Ningxia, attended the Opening Ceremony and Promotion of China-Malaysia Business Environment and Key Industries.

Under the theme “Gathering in Beautiful and Open New Ningxia, Writing a New Chapter of China-Malaysia Cooperation,” the dialogue featured site visits, industry promotion sessions, and matchmaking activities focused on trade and investment, sci-tech innovation, culture and tourism, and modern agriculture. The Malaysian delegation gained an in-depth understanding of Ningxia’s history and dynamic industries. During the promotion and matchmaking sessions, participants explored opportunities and challenges in bilateral economic cooperation and identified concrete collaboration needs. At the signing ceremony, representatives from both sides witnessed the signing of agreements between Chinese and Malaysian enterprises and business associations. The dialogue resulted in 26 cooperation projects worth a total of 495 million yuan, covering trade and investment, organic agriculture, culture and tourism, and healthcare. These tangible outcomes reaffirm the dialogue’s role as an important platform for strengthening China-Malaysia economic cooperation.

As Ningxia’s first major “invite-in” event of the year focused on practical economic cooperation, the dialogue leveraged party-to-party exchange channels to create an effective bridge between political parties, governments, and business communities of the two countries. Participants agreed that China and Malaysia, bound by geographic proximity, strong people-to-people ties, and deep business connections, share enormous potential and bright prospects for cooperation under the Belt and Road framework.

Going forward, all parties will continue to make good use of the platform, facilitate regular business exchanges, and ensure that cooperative projects take root and bear fruit—ushering in a new Golden 50 Years of China-Malaysia relations and delivering greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.
