On October 17, 2025, Bai Yuzhen, Director-General of the Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office, met with Lum Wan Liang, Consul General of Malaysia in Xi’an.

Bai Yuzhen briefed Consul General Lum Wan Liang on the social and economic development achievements and competitive and specialty industries of Ningxia. She also outlined key cooperation programs between Ningxia and Malaysia as well as work plans for the coming year. Bai Yuzhen expressed the hope that, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state and building upon the existing sound partnership, the two sides would further enhance friendly exchanges and practical cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, culture and tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and education. She invited government, business, and youth delegations from Malaysia to visit Ningxia for exchanges, and proposed joint activities such as economic cooperation meetings and business matchmaking events to expand bilateral trade and two-way investment. She also expressed the hope to strengthen sub-national and youth exchanges, establish friendship city and school relations, deepen mutual learning among civilizations, and bolster people-to-people bonds.

Consul General Lum Wan Liang stated that the Consulate General of Malaysia in Xi’an and Ningxia have maintained close interactions and carried out sound exchanges and cooperation in economy and trade, culture and tourism, and education. He expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office and other relevant departments. Noting the promising prospects for cooperation between Malaysia and Ningxia, and highlighting that 2026 is the Visit Malaysia Year, he stated that the Consulate General will host joint events with Ningxia, focusing on economic and trade cooperation, culture and tourism promotion, sub-national exchanges, and people-to-people interactions. He also emphasized the commitment to advancing practical cooperation between the two sides for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
