On August 27 and 28, a twelve-member Pakistani media and think tank delegation, led by Mian Imran Masood, Vice Chancellor of University of South Asia and former Minister of Higher Education of Punjab Province, visited Ningxia. The delegation attended the Opening Ceremony of the China-Arab States Expo (the Expo), reported on the event, while also learning about Ningxia’s achievements in rural revitalization, modern agriculture, and the integration of culture and tourism.

During their visit, the delegation covered the Expo’s Opening Ceremony and exhibitions, speaking highly of China’s development accomplishments and the prospects of China-Arab states cooperation. They unanimously agreed that the Expo is not only a milestone in China-Arab states collaboration but also a reflection of China’s aspirations for deepening economic, trade, and technological cooperation with Pakistan. They pledged to actively promote the Expo’s success and outcomes upon their return. In Minning Town, they, witnessing firsthand the town’s historic transformation from a barren place to a land of miracles, marveled at Ningxia’s remarkable progress in recent years. Despite the short visit, they described it as highly informative and rewarding.

At the New Minning Exhibition Center, the delegation gained a deep understanding of how Minning Town, leveraging the East-West paired assistance mechanism for poverty alleviation, achieved a miraculous change through rural revitalization. At the Hemei E-Commerce Workshop, they observed the innovative “e-commerce + poverty alleviation” model, which has effectively fostered local entrepreneurship and income growth. They commended the workshop, which is recognized as one of the Best Poverty Reduction Practices, for being forward-thinking and replicable. At the Kaisheng Haofeng (Yinchuan) Industrial Park for Smart Protected Agriculture, they explored the extensive application of cutting-edge technologies like IoT and AI in intelligent environmental control for crop growth, as well as production monitoring and early warning systems, uncovering the key role of digital innovation in modern agricultural efficiency. At Yuanshi Vineyard, they learned about the integration of wine industry with desertification control, commending its pioneering development model that combines ecological restoration, specialty agriculture, and cultural tourism.

This visit provided the Pakistani delegation with a multidimensional and in-depth understanding of Ningxia’s achievements across multiple sectors, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation. Going forward, the Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office will further collaborate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese embassies abroad to invite more international media to visit and cover Ningxia, experience Ningxia’s practice in Chinese modernization, and better tell Ningxia’s story to the world.
