From June 25 to 29, the delegation of high-level Sri Lankan officials, led by D.V. Chanaka, State Minister of Power and Energy, visited Ningxia. The purpose of the visit was to gain insights into Ningxia’s development regarding specialty industries, government services, rural revitalization, ethnic unity and integration of culture and tourism, and explore areas for potential cooperation while promoting practical endeavors. Zhang Yupu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Ningxia Committee and Governor of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, met with the delegation.
The delegation visited the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base, Minning Town, Yinchuan Government Service Center, Jinhuayuan Community, Ningxia Yili Company, Ningxia Tiandi Benniu Industrial Group, BASF Shanshan Battery Material (Ningxia) Company, Sand Lake Nature Reserve and Yellow River Great Canyon Tourist Area. They were impressed by the Fujian-Ningxia paired assistance model for poverty alleviation, and the highly efficient and people-centered government services. They also admired the industrial structure featuring the “six emerging industries, six specialty agricultural industries, and six priority industries + N”, which was established to expedite development according to the local conditions, the harmonious coexistence between various ethnic groups, and the philosophy of integrating ecological conservation and cultural tourism.
Chanaka and members of the delegation noted that Ningxia is an example of China’s endeavors in advancing green and sustainable development, reinforcing ethnic unity, and promoting common prosperity. It stands as a compelling illustration of the Chinese path to modernization. Taking into account of the substantial ground for cooperation between Sri Lanka and Ningxia in energy and chemical industries, equipment manufacturing, modern agriculture, and cultural tourism, the delegation intends to introduce Ningxia’s strategies and successes to their home country. They are hopeful that, under the guidance of the two state leaders, Sri Lanka will see broadened channels for cooperation and achieve tangible advancements with Ningxia in trade, people-to-people exchanges, and international friendship city relations, thereby injecting new dynamism into the strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Sri Lanka.
Bai Yuzhen, Director-General of the Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office, attended the meeting. Zhang Liwei, Deputy Director-General of the Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office, accompanied the delegation during their visit.
