From December 12 to 14, a delegation led by Kasenov Baurzhan, Director-General of the National Agrarian Science and Educational Center (NASEC) of Kazakhstan, visited Ningxia. The delegation went to Yinchuan City and Shizuishan City for on-site visits and had a meeting with officials from related departments.

During their visit, the delegation learned about Ningxia’s advancements in the six emerging industries, six specialty agricultural industries and six priority industries. They visited the Baijitan National Nature Reserve, Ningxia Wolfberry Goji Industry Co., Ltd., Ningxia Taijin Seeds Co., Ltd. and Ningxia LFY Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. Through these tours, they gained a deeper understanding of Ningxia’s development in modern agriculture, seed cultivation, desertification prevention and control, and discussed possibilities of practical cooperation.

At the meeting, the Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office briefed the delegation on Ningxia’s economic and social development. The Ningxia Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences and Ningxia Forestry and Grassland Administration introduced their collaboration efforts with Kazakhstan. The two sides exchanged views on modern agriculture, animal husbandry and farming, forest pest control, and desertification control. They also discussed how to promote Ningxia’s practices and experience and enhance practical cooperation. Kasenov Baurzhan spoke highly of Ningxia’s high-quality development in modern agriculture and invited enterprises of Ningxia to invest in Kazakhstan. He noted that Ningxia is similar to Kazakhstan in terms of climate and geographical conditions, with which he was confident the two sides boast broad prospects for future communication and cooperation.

This visit signifies an important step for Ningxia in implementing the outcomes of the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and the China-Central Asia Summit. Furthermore, it represents a concrete measure to actualize the consensus reached during the meeting between senior officials from Ningxia and the Consul General of Kazakhstan in Xi’an. The visit will deliver breakthroughs in areas such as agriculture, animal husbandry and desertification control, and contribute to the China-Kazakhstan Permanent Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and high-quality development of the Belt and Road cooperation.
