At the invitation of Maruyama Tatsuya, Governor of Shimane Prefecture of Japan, Bai Shangcheng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Ningxia People’s Congress, led a delegation to visit Shimane from November 11 to 13 to attend the celebration for the 30th anniversary of international friendship city relations between Shimane and Ningxia.

During their visit, the delegation met with Maruyama Tatsuya and attended the celebration ceremony. They held a presentation highlighting Ningxia’s social and economic achievements in recent years, with a particular focus on the progress made in the six emerging industries, six specialty agricultural industries and six priority industries. Bai Shangcheng acknowledged that over the past three decades, extensive exchanges and cooperation between Ningxia and Shimane have greatly benefited both regions and peoples, serving as a model of sub-national exchanges between China and Japan. At the new starting point marked by the 30th anniversary, Ningxia looks forward to consolidating and expanding cooperation with people from all walks of life in Shimane, aiming for a broader scope, higher level and deeper engagement. Maruyama Tatsuya noted that Shimane is ready to work with Ningxia to deepen friendship and tap cooperation potential, jointly bringing their relations to a new height and helping enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples.

In October, Matsuo Shinji, Vice Governor of Shimane, paid a visit to Ningxia. This return visit has further enhanced mutual understanding between Ningxia and Shimane, consolidated friendship and injected new vitality to the international friendship city relations.

Moreover, during their stay in Shimane, the delegation attended the friendship tree planting ceremony with representatives from various sectors in Shimane. They also visited Shimane Agricultural Technology Center and a winery.
