On April 19, the 17th Local Government Exchange Seminar Between China and the Republic of Korea (the ROK) under the theme of “strengthening China-ROK exchanges and deepening sub-national cooperation” was held successfully in Changchun, Jilin Province. The seminar was co-hosted by the Embassy of the ROK in China, Governors Association of Korea, Changchun Municipal People’s Government and Foreign Affairs Office of Jilin Province, and co-organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs Management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. More than 400 people attended the event, including officials in charge of foreign affairs or exchanges with the ROK from different localities of China and representatives from local governments of the ROK. Zhang Liwei, Deputy Director-General of the Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office, attended the seminar and delivered a speech on behalf of Ningxia. Representatives from Yinchuan City, Zhongwei City and Zhongning County were also at the meeting.
After briefing the attendees on the overall situation of Ningxia and its exchanges with the ROK, Zhang Liwei noted that Ningxia is a promising land full of business opportunities. Dedicating to the concept of opening-up and mutually beneficial cooperation, Ningxia is accelerating the development of six emerging industries, six specialty agricultural industries and six priority industries and building modern industrial bases. As a participant, promoter, and beneficiary of the China-ROK friendship, Ningxia has carried out exchanges and cooperation with the ROK in various fields such as economy, trade, investment, and education.
Ningxia is committed to deepening understanding and cooperation with local governments of the ROK to expand exchanges and establish a closer coordination mechanism. By nurturing a series of practical cooperation projects, a comprehensive and efficient platform will be built to facilitate economic and trade exchanges, practical cooperation, and cultural exchanges.
Zhang Liwei also met with Lee Jin-won, Director of the Foreign Affairs and Trade Division of Gyeongsangbuk-do, the ROK, to discuss the friendly exchange plan between the two sides in 2023.
