On February 17, an online matchmaking meeting was held between Ningxia and the German Embassy in China to enhance cooperation in fields such as agriculture, economy, trade, investment, culture and tourism, and vocational education. Officials in charge of agriculture, economy and trade, industry, and culture from the German Embassy in China attended the meeting. Managing director of the German Agricultural Society, as well as officials from related departments and industrial parks of Ningxia, were also present.
Fan Huafeng, Deputy Director-General of the Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office (NXFAO), noted that blessed with rich resources, distinctive industries and an enabling business environment, Ningxia has a solid foundation and great potential to cooperate with the German side in many fields. The NXFAO would like to take this meeting as an opportunity to establish a long-term liaison mechanism, seek common ground, and expand exchanges and cooperation. He added that the embassy, together with German enterprises and business associations, is always welcomed to visit Ningxia .
Friederike Dörfler, Food and Agriculture Counsellor of the German Embassy in China, applauded Ningxia’s achievements in economic and social development. After learning about Ningxia’s competitive and specialty industries, she said the two sides could start with agricultural projects and then move on to other fields and turn cooperation potential into practical results.
At the meeting, officials from the Ningxia Development and Reform Commission, Ningxia Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department, Ningxia Education Department, Ningxia Commerce Department and Ningxia Culture and Tourism Department briefed the attendees on Ningxia’s social and economic development and their intentions to cooperate with Germany. Officials from the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base, Administrative Committee of Ningxia (Helan Mountains’ Eastern Foot) Wine Industry Park and Yinchuan Economic and Technological Development Zone also introduced their business environment and policies to attract investment.
Going forward, the NXFAO, leveraging its distinctive strengths, will focus on economic and trade exchanges and cooperation to attract and facilitate more foreign investment and cooperation projects, ensuring a promising start for the first quarter of 2023.
