Recently, Iskra Industry Co., Ltd. of Japan released a quality inspection report, proving that isatis roots produced in Pengyang County, Ningxia conform to required standards and signed a procurement contract. This is the first time that a well-known Japanese pharmaceutical company specializing in traditional Chinese medicine directly purchases traditional Chinese medicine herbs from Ningxia, marking the official entry of isatis roots from Pengyang County into the Japanese Market.

Getting the deal finalized was not easy as Japan’s pharmaceutical industry raises high standards and strict requirements, coupled with the problems of the sales return and long payment periods in direct trade, in particular the impact of Covid-19. In view of these, the Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office (NXFAO), the People’s Government of Pengyang County and Iskra Industry Co., Ltd. held several virtual meetings, which eventually led to the signing of a procurement contract between Yizhen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. of Pengyang County and Iskra Industry Co., Ltd. Isatis roots from Pengyang County have arrived at Iskra’s factory in Chengdu City and the payment will be settled soon.

Since the beginning of this year, the NXFAO, focusing on promoting Ningxia’s development and leveraging its strengths, has taken targeted moves to help Ningxia’s competitive and specialty industries go global and enhance brand awareness. This procurement is a significant breakthrough, as it not only showcases the quality of Pengyang County’s herbs and helps enhance its market influence, but also demonstrates the NXFAO’s role as a bridge. Going forward, NXFAO will make more efforts so that the Iskra Industry Co., Ltd. could purchase more traditional Chinese medicine herbs from Ningxia, contributing to the rural vitalization and the opening-up and development of Ningxia’s county-level regions.
