On August 23, the 13th China-Iran Friendship Organization’s Annual Meeting and Dialogue for Friendship Provinces and Cities was held online to bolster cooperation between the two countries.
With the theme of “Future-Oriented China-Iran Comprehensive Strategic Partnership: Win-Win Cooperation for Common Development”, the meeting was jointly organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), China-Iran Friendship Association, and Iran-China Friendship Association.
Officials including Lin Songtian, President of the CPAFFC, Chang Hua, Chinese Ambassador to Iran, Li Peixing, Vice Governor of Gansu Province, Wang Daoxi, Vice Governor of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Lv Laisheng, Executive Vice Mayor of Xi’an City, Allaedin Boroujerdi, Head of Iran-China Friendship Association, Mohammad Keshavarz Zadeh, Iranian Ambassador to China, Ghom Omidian, Vice Governor of Qom Province, Saeid Ebrahimi, Vice Mayor of Isfahan Municipality, attended the meeting and delivered speeches respectively.
In his speech, Wang Daoxi, Vice Governor of Ningxia, noted that reputed as an oasis in the hinterland, Ningxia is a treasure land in western China. Over the past years, it has actively integrated into and served the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative by holding five sessions of the China-Arab States Expo and establishing economic and trade relations with 169 countries and regions.
Ningxia and the Province of Qazvin signed an agreement on establishing friendly relations in June, 2012. This year marks the tenth anniversary of such relations. Over the years, the two sides have promoted exchanges and cooperation in various fields under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Guided by the friendship associations of the two countries, Ningxia stands ready to work with the Province of Qazvin to deepen mutual understanding, leverage each others’ advantages and make plans for future cooperation as underpinned by the friendly relations. Ningxia will make all-out efforts to broaden exchanges and contribute to a better China-Iran relations by pushing forward sub-national exchanges, facilitating industrial development, bolstering economic cooperation, pursuing green development, and stepping up cultural exchanges for mutually beneficial and win-win results.
Entrusted by the Vice Governor of the Province of Qazvin, the Vice Mayor of Qazvin City delivered a speech and expressed gratitude to Ningxia’s move in donating medical supplies to the Province of Qazvin since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. As an important hub of trade along the Silk Road, the Province of Qazvin has connected western civilizations with the eastern ones and highly values the relationship with its Chinese friendship region. He also noted that the Province of Qazvin would like to further enrich the content of practical cooperation with Ningxia.
Going forward, Ningxia will take this meeting as an opportunity to work with the Province of Qazvin to fully implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, add more substance to their cooperation and deepen friendship featuring mutual understanding, trust and win-win results, so as to jointly boost China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership.
