On June 23, Bai Yuzhen, Director-General of Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office, met with Si Byung-yun, Director of Representative Office of Gumi City of the ROK in China, in Yinchuan.

Bai welcomed Si Byung-yun and his delegation, saying that with increasing exchanges and fruitful cooperation results, the ROK has become an important partner of Ningxia in terms of investment and economic and trade cooperation. The 13th Ningxia Congress of the CPC concluded recently, outlining the overall policy orientation and major goals and strategies for Ningxia’s development in the next five years. New requirements have also been made for higher-level reform and opening up. As this year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the ROK, Ningxia will further promote the practical exchanges and cooperation with the ROK in trade, investment, education, science, technology, culture, tourism and international friendship city relations. Solid efforts will be made to stage a successful China (Ningxia)-ROK Week for Friendly Exchanges. She hoped that Si would introduce Ningxia to more people in the ROK and facilitate Ningxia’s cooperation with Gumi City, focusing on the six emerging industries, six specialty agricultural industries and six priority industries of Ningxia. Bai called on representatives of local governments and enterprises from the ROK to attend the event, during which the two sides could seek new cooperation opportunities for shared benefits and win-win outcomes, and facilitate Ningxia’s high-level opening up and high-quality development.

Si Byung-yun expressed his appreciation for Ningxia’s efforts to develop friendly relations with Gumi City and the work of Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office to facilitate the exchanges and cooperation between Ningxia and the ROK. He said that the Representative Office of Gumi City in China will actively serve the friendly interactions between the two sides by helping more enterprises from the ROK to invest in Ningxia, promoting cooperation in electronics and new materials, and deepening understanding and friendship between the two peoples, to see that a new chapter will be opened up for friendly cooperation and joint development.
