Ningxia International Youth Friendship Camp 2021 Successfully Held

Ningxia International Youth Friendship Camp 2021 concluded on July 30 in Yinchuan. 53 youth representatives from Ningxia and foreign countries participated in the camp through online and offline events. The foreign participants were students from Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea and Tanzania who are studying in Ningxia and youth representativesfrom four international friendship cities of Ningxia including Shimane Prefecture of Japan, Gyeongsangbuk-do of the ROK, West Nusa Tenggara Province of Indonesia and Bayankhongor Province of Mongolia. Bai Yuzhen, Deputy Director-General of Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office,and Hao Yinju, Vice President of Ningxia Medical University,attended the closing ceremony of the camp.

In the five-day event, the participants introduced to each other their histories, cultures, customs, industries and tourism resources. Various activities have been held to facilitate exchanges of culture and ideas. After touring Ningxias urban and rural areas, scenic spots and experiencing fork customs, these young people gained a deeper understanding of China and the history of the CPC, as well as Ningxias revolutionary history, rural revitalization, ecological conservation and specialty industries. They have built deep friendship through these activities.

The participants went to Yinchuan, Wuzhong and Guyuan, visiting places including the Red ArmysLong March Memorial Hall on Liupan Mountains, Guyuan Museum, National Forest Park on Liupan Mountains, and Baisitan Village in Dongtasi Town of Litong District. They also learned to carve bricks, a practice included in Chinas intangible cultural heritage,and make the eight-treasure tea, a traditional specialty of Ningxia. In the Red ArmysLong March Memorial Hall, the youngsters leaned about the revolutionary history of Ningxia and read the poem Mountain Liupan - to the tune of Qing Ping Yue. In Baisitan Village, they were impressed with the rural life and spoke highly of Ningxias policeson ethnic unity and rural revitalization. At the online meeting with the youth representatives from Ningxias international friendship cities, the participants had lively discussionson topics such as ecological conservation, COVID-19 prevention and control and cultural inheritance, forging close bonds through free communication. At the closing ceremony, the participants expressed their willingness to carry forward the friendship and facilitate the cooperation among their countries as the young generation.

Since 2002, 17 sessions of Ningxia International Youth Friendship Camp have been held successfully. As a flagship program in youth exchangesof Ningxia, the camp has set up an important platform for youngsters from different countries to learn from each other, get to know each other, exchange ideas and develop friendship. It has played a constructive role in introducing Ningxia and China to the world and promoting people-to-people exchanges.
