The government of Fayoum in Egypt sent a letter of thanks to the People’s Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, expressing its gratitude for Ningxia’s donation of anti-pandemic supplies and its willingness to deepen the friendly relations between the two places. Since the establishment of the international friendship region relationship in November 2008, Ningxia and Fayoum have seen increased cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, science and technology, etc. Particularly in 2020 as COVID-19 ravaged Africa, Ningxia, while protecting its people with effective response measures, reached out to help its international friendship cities in Egypt, Morocco, Ethiopia and Mauritania. From China’s Embassy in Egypt, Egypt’s Embassy in China and Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, Ningxia learned about the difficulties faced by Fayoum due to shortages of anti-pandemic supplies and took active efforts to coordinate donations. In September, 2020, Ningxia donated 30,000 surgical masks and 1,000 medical protective suits to Fayoum in support of its fight against COVID-19, a practice which echoes the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind.

For the next step, Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office will, by stepping up its interactions with the government of Fayoum, continuously promote the exchanges and cooperation in trade and economy, agriculture, education and people-to-people exchanges, so as to deepen the friendship between the two peoples and translate it into a new impetus for pragmatic cooperation between the two sides.
