Recently, Ningxia joined the online celebrations of Mendoza’s Wine Harvest National Festival, an important national festival in Argentina. It organized local wineries to take part in the celebrations and sent congratulatory videos and letters. Ningxia’s participation was appreciated by its Argentinian counterpart, which will boost the high-quality development of Ningxia’s wine industry in turn and create more channels for Ningxia to exchange with South America. 

Mendoza is a world renowned wine producing area with a well developed wine industry and rich wine culture. Ningxia has been seeking cooperation with it for the past several years. In 2019, a delegation headed by officials from the CPC Ningxia Committee visited Mendoza and had in-depth exchanges with the governor of Mendoza and reached consensus on the possibilities of cooperation. As COVID-19 rages around the globe, Ningxia and Mendoza exchanged messages of sympathy and support and stood ready to pursue cooperation in wine industry once the conditions allow. 

The Mendoza’s Wine Harvest National Festival is hosted by Mendoza of Argentina from February to March every year, with celebrations such as performances of songs and dances staged. This year, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebrations were held online and people across the world were invited to take part in. Ningxia, as an important wine producing area in the world, was invited for the first time. 

Ningxia’s participation in Mendoza’s celebrations is an attempt to explore new channels for pragmatic cooperation when initial success was made in fighting against COVID-19.
