On June 8, anti-pandemic supplies donated by the People’s Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region started delivery from Yinchuan to Casablanca-Settat, Morocco. The supplies, made up of 2,000 disposable masks, 25,000 surgical masks and 2,000 disposable medical protective suits, will be transferred via the Embassy of Morocco in China to help with the local fight against COVID-19.

Ningxia and Casablanca-Settat were officially tied as international friendship cities in January, 2006. The two sides witnessed frequent exchanges, mutual high-level visits and pragmatic cooperation in culture, education, science, technology and health care in recent years. As the coronavirus sweeps across the world, Casablanca-Setatt faces stern challenges including shortage of medical supplies. In view of this, Ningxia raised medical supplies to lend a helping hand. “Sharing Weal and Woe, Through Fair and Foul” was written in Chinese and English on the packages, indicating the two sides will work together to tide over this difficulty. 

Since the start of COVID-19, Ningxia, when making great efforts to protect its own people from the virus, took the initiative to join global anti-pandemic efforts. It shared its experience in containment and treatment with and offered support and assistance to international friendship cities, winning their praise and recognition. So far, Ningxia has donated anti-pandemic supplies to seven international friendship cities, held video conferences to share containment experience with Benin, and sent a medical team to assist Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Through all these efforts, Ningxia and its international friendship cities pooled their strength and wisdom to combat the disease together, forging even deeper and closer relations.
